Where do we go from here? – Boggs Center Monthly Discussions
This month’s topic: “Changing Concepts of Socialism, Changing Concepts of Revolution”
April 18, 2009, 2:00 p.m., at the Boggs Center, 3061 Field St., Detroit.
Based upon our March discussion on work, economics and unions, as well as the current national discussion taking place in The Nation magazine based upon the theme: “Reimagining Socialism” and the daily references to Obama’s “nationalization of the banks” we have selected the topic: “Changing Concepts of Socialism, Changing Concepts of Revolution” for our April discussion.
We suggest you read the following articles:
- The Revolution Has Already Occurred by Rebecca Solnit
- The US Is Facing a Weimar Moment by Robert Freeman
- Changing Concepts of Revolution (notes by Grace Lee Boggs)
- A Post Capitalist Future is Possible by Doug Henwood
We have been extremely pleased with the response to the monthly discussions. The energy and conversation of those attending supports the idea that we need to continue to deepen and reflect upon ideas, critically evaluate our thinking, advance our vision while we engage in our daily practice as citizen activists to re-define, re-spirit and rebuild our city, our region and our nation.
Please RSVP because space is limited. We will start promptly at 2:00 p.m.
