Through our Study Circles we engage activists, artists, and thinkers from across Detroit and beyond. Our goal is to cultivate our communities’ capacity to engage media critically, make connections between the past, present, and future, and practice dialectical thinking to develop grounded political assessments.
Study Circles
Join us for the Practicing New Worlds Study Circle!
Detroit has offered leadership to the movement against state supported violence for more than 50 years. We believe that this is the time to deepen our commitment to building community safety through collective study and reflection on practice.
We will gather at the Boggs Center on the second Thursday of each month this Winter and Spring to discuss Practicing New Worlds. Light refreshments will be provided.
Our Study Circle will convene over 4 sessions:
- Thursday, Feb 12, 6-8pm
- Thursday, March 12, 6-8pm
- Thursday, April 9, 6-8pm
- Thursday, May 14, 6-8pm *collective meal*
Please only register if you can commit to participating in at least 3 out of 4 sessions.
Though we encourage in-person attendance for all sessions, limited space is available for virtual participation. If you are unable to attend in-person and want to attend virtually, please email mike@boggscenter.org.
Leading up to our Study Circle, Andrea J. Ritchie will join us at the Boggs Center for a Book Signing on Thursday, January 22 at 6-8pm. Be sure to join us for this celebration of abolitionist work and pick up own (signed) copy of Practicing New Worlds!
